Itinerary:

6:30 AM: Depart from Moshi after breakfast. Drive through the lush foothills of Kilimanjaro, passing through local villages and coffee plantations on the way to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park.

9:00 AM: Arrive at Londorossi Gate for park entry registration. After formalities, continue by vehicle along a scenic route to Morum Barrier Gate (3,400 meters), the starting point for your adventure on the Shira Plateau.

10:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Begin your hike across the vast Shira Plateau, an ancient volcanic caldera. Experience its unique high-altitude ecosystem, which features hardy plants like giant lobelias, everlasting flowers, and unique heathers. Along the way, spot wildlife such as buffalo, eland, and Colobus monkeys, as well as an array of birdlife. Marvel at the stunning views of Kibo Peak, the main summit of Kilimanjaro.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Pause for a packed lunch on the plateau, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Take in the crisp mountain air and enjoy the serene environment.

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Continue exploring the Shira Plateau, visiting notable features such as Shira Cathedral and other unique rock formations. Your guide will share insights about the area’s geology, ecology, and cultural significance.

3:30 PM: Begin your descent to Morum Barrier Gate. From there, drive back to Londorossi Gate and continue your return journey to Moshi.

6:30 PM: Arrive back in Moshi, concluding your day trip.
